I love being involved in the Alzheimer Café Donnybrook. Over the years, there has been a lot of laughter and some tears, as people have swapped stories and advice. I’ve met extraordinary people and learned about the art of caring. It’s rewarding to be involved in a support that brings so much comfort. And then there’s Bridget’s lemon drizzle cake. Reason enough to go to a café evening!
I’ve volunteered with the Alzheimer’s Café- Donnybrook since September 2016 and it’s always a pleasure to attend. It’s a great place to access information and support and to meet with people with similar experiences. Every café evening is different however what them all have is common is a safe and supportive environment, practical information you can use and plenty of tea and cakes. I would definitely recommend coming along if you or someone you know is living with dementia.
Thank you to Fr Vincent and his team at the Avila Centre, and the local companies which support us.
